ABOUT THE BRATTLE FILM FOUNDATION  Since 1953 the Brattle Theatre in Harvard Square, Cambridge, has been a cultural landmark, both locally and nationally, as one of the first and best-known repertory cinemas in this country to present classic and current film from around the world.  The Brattle Film Foundation, established in 2000 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, now operates the historic Brattle Theatre. Our mission is to celebrate film as both a popular and fine art, with important historic and cultural value. The Foundation works to preserve the Brattle Theatre’s acclaimed film programming, and expand educational programming and community events, at the only remaining independent and nonprofit movie theatre in Cambridge.
